“Mayonnaise” has formed in the gearbox so we returned to the port to find the connectors that fit on the exchanger we have in stock.
The exchanger is a system for cooling the oil of the forward/reverse gear lever, thanks to a system of tubes transporting sea water. When these tubes leak due to wear or corrosion, seawater and oil form a mixture that is too thick to function.
